This adorable 3-bedroom holiday cottage has stunning mountain views, an independent 2-bedroom holiday apartment and is situated just 30 - 60 minutes away from several Pyrenean ski resorts.
Ready to move into, this charming hilltop cottage with its separate 2-bedroom holiday apartment is perfect for a family home, a holiday home, a weekend pied-à-terre...
In addition, the apartment could be used as an office, a consulting room, an art studio…
Both the cottage and the apartment could be rented out to holidaymakers, who will love the property’s proximity to ski resorts, beach resorts, the Pyrénées and Spain!
The magnificent panoramic mountain views can be enjoyed as you sip a glass of wine on the south-facing terrace – and during the cooler months, you can admire the views through the huge picture window in the main sitting room as you keep cosy and warm next to the wood-burning stove!
Dating back to the early 1900s, this super property is set in south-facing gardens and grounds of 3,848m² (nearly 1 acre). The building was originally a large barn belonging to the neighbouring farmhouse and was partially converted into accommodation before the current owners bought it.
The owners use it as a holiday cottage for themselves and occasionally rent out the apartment – and sometimes vice versa if holidaymakers require three bedrooms.
The holiday cottage has living space of 140m². It has three bedrooms, plus an open-plan loft space above the sitting room, which could be used for more bedrooms, a master-bedroom suite, a playroom/games room/television room/home cinema...
The self-contained first-floor apartment has living space of 65m² and has two bedrooms. If desired, the apartment could be integrated into the cottage accommodation, which would give you a property of 205m² (some of it under the eaves), which would include five bedrooms, plus room for additional bedrooms in the unconverted mezzanine area.
At the far end of the building, there is a small outbuilding of 15m², which is ideal to use for storage of garden furniture and tools.
The L-shaped building has entrances at both the front and the back of it. The first-floor apartment has its own front door. The cottage has a huge open-plan living room, which has beautiful exposed stone walls, a woodburning stove and sliding picture windows overlooking the mountains. Adjacent to the sitting room is a cosy living/dining room with a fitted kitchen, an open fireplace and French doors, which open out to the south-facing dining terrace.
Also on the ground floor are three bedrooms, a shower room and a WC. A wooden staircase in the living room leads up to a loft-style mezzanine of 50m² on the first floor of the cottage, which could be converted into more bedrooms, a master-bedroom suite, a playroom/ games room/television room/home cinema...
At the back of the building, ancient stone steps set in a stone wall lead to a raised walkway and the front door of the first-floor apartment.
The apartment (65m²) comprises an open-plan sitting/dining room with an open fireplace, an adjacent kitchen area, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a WC. You might want to refresh the traditional-style décor of the apartment in the future. And should you require an independent office, a consulting room or an art studio, the apartment could be ideal for this.
NB: the neighbouring farmhouse is not lived in permanently, but it is occasionally rented out as a gîte to holidaymakers for a few weeks of the year. Should you be hoping to set up and run yoga and wellness retreats or sporting, cultural and leisure activity holidays, the neighbouring accommodation could, in fact, be highly beneficial for your business.
Groups participating in your courses and workshops could book accommodation in the farmhouse gîte, which would leave you free to concentrate on running your courses and activities in the cottage. This arrangement would also mean that your participants can self-cater during their stay, just in case you would prefer not to offer meals or to offer them only occasionally.
Situated in the Basque Country, but close to the beautiful Béarn and its famous Jurançon vineyards, there are things for you to see and do whatever the time of year. For mountain lovers, there are mountain trails and ski resorts not far away in the picturesque Pyrénées. If you prefer watersports, there are numerous swimming lakes in the Béarn, rivers for fishing, canoeing and white-water rafting and beach resorts on the Atlantic coast, which are perfect for surfers and for family days out.

The cottage is set in grounds of 3,848m² (nearly 1 acre). The land around the house is flat; the remainder of the land slopes downhill to the south. There is more than enough room to install a swimming pool, a summer kitchen and a barbecue area, if desired.
Garden furniture and tools can be stored in the small stone outbuilding (15m²) which is located on the far side of the cottage – this outbuilding could also be used for housing the machinery for a swimming pool.
If you love gardening, the grounds around the property have huge potential for creating an alpine garden, a rock garden, a herb garden, water features… and if you have children or animals, they will love to explore the open spaces and woodland to the south.
This delightful property comprises 205m² of living space in total, making it perfect for a spacious family home, a holiday home, a pied-à-terre... With three bedrooms in the cottage and two in the apartment, you will have plenty of room to accommodate your friends and family – or perhaps a teenage child might like to use the apartment as a private suite! The apartment could also be used as an office, a consulting room, an art studio…
If you are searching for an good-value property that can be rented out, both the cottage and the apartment have income potential – both long-term and short-term. Locally, there are many sporting and leisure activities to attract visitors all year round – and with a bus service from Tardets-Sorholus to the coast, a day on the beach would also be possible for your guests.
Holidaymakers are constantly looking for top-quality accommodation during the summer months, the skiing season and for Christmas and New Year, especially in rural locations where peace and tranquillity are guaranteed. You might even consider transforming the apartment into one or two luxurious Bed and Breakfast suites, which would attract couples for short breaks out of season. Alternatively, the three-bedroom cottage could be rented out to larger parties and the owners could live in the apartment during those weeks.
If you are hoping to run yoga and wellness retreats, cultural or gastronomic courses or even corporate training workshops for groups, the neighbouring farmhouse gîte may well be an advantage rather than a disadvantage for you. It could be the perfect place for your course participants to stay! The farmhouse gîte is normally only booked for a few weeks of the year, but it might be possible to arrange with the gîte’s owner that your course participants stay there whenever you are running courses, either booking through you or going direct to the owner. This arrangement would mean that you would not need to create any furnished and equipped accommodation for your course participants, nor would you need to cater for them!
