Apartment for sale in Volterra: a rural oasis within the walls of the city

Dating from Etruscan times, the medieval, Roman and renaissance walled hilltop city of Volterra has proved attractive alike to those valuing its artistic ambiance with a profusion of museums, churches, theatres and art galleries, its annual medieval festival, and its bustling street culture encompassing many bars and restaurants. Modern facilities include a local hospital with A & E as well as a wide range of shops, doctors, dentists and a municipal swimming pool. One interesting geographical feature is that Volterra features an internal valley, with the city walls not following the contour lines but cutting across to retain the Docciola fountain within the walled city.
